The Sadak Sathi event gathered over 70 participants for a timely and impactful conversation on road safety in Nepal. Held at the Department of Roads, the program opened with a powerful keynote address by Hon. Devendra Dahal, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, who highlighted the urgent need for collective action and systemic reform in tackling Nepal’s road safety crisis.

The panel brought together esteemed experts from four key sectors:

  • Ram Hari Pokharel, Director General, Department of Roads

  • Dr. Resham Raj Regmi, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of Nepal

  • Bhim Prasad Dhakal, Retired Additional Inspector General of Police

  • Dr. Nilam Kumar Khadka, Senior Neurosurgeon and Head of Department, National Trauma Centre

The session was skillfully moderated by Dr. Bhagabati Sedain, Professor at Padma Kanya Campus and a long-time road safety advocate. Together, the speakers unpacked critical issues including road design and engineering standards, legal protections under the Good Samaritan Law, trauma response within the golden hour, and the role of enforcement in building safer systems.
